City Clerk Certifies Official List of Primary Nominating Election Candidates

The 77 candidates will appear on the ballot for the March 5, 2013 City of Los Angeles Primary Nominating Election.

Los Angeles City Clerk June Lagmay released the official list Friday of 77 candidates who have qualified to appear on the ballot for the March 5, 2013, City of Los Angeles Primary Nominating Election.

The list of certified candidates includes three candidates for the seat opening when Ed Reyes terms out in District 1 and 12 candidates opening when Eric Garcetti terms out in District 13.

A random alphabet drawing conducted publicly in the City Council chamber on Dec. 10 determined the order in which candidates will be listed on the ballot in each race.

WRITE-IN CANDIDATES:  Any person who wishes to become a write-in candidate may obtain the Declaration of Intention to Become a Write-In Candidate. The document must be filed with the Office of the City Clerk-Election Division by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19.

At the time of submission of the Declaration of Intention, write-in candidates must either pay a filing fee of $300 or submit valid signatures of at least 500, but no more than 1,000, qualified, registered voters within their district.
