Christopher Dorner Supporters Rally Outside LAPD HQ [Photos, Video]

Several dozen people gather across the street from the Los Angeles Police Department's headquarters on Saturday.

Supporters of Christopher Dorner and opponents of police corruption rallied Saturday across from Los Angeles Police Department headquarters in Downtown Los Angeles.

Some held signs, some wore bandanas and masks.

"People have already written books, people have already written letters," said Wendell Jenkins of Long Beach, a Dorner supporter.  "I believe they are headed somewhere with this."

Protesters said they did not support Dorner's use of violence but thought his charges of cronyism and racism at the LAPD deserved further attention.

"What other choice do we have at this point?" added Gabriel Sotello of South El Monte. "We should not accept what's going on."

Sotello also said he thinks any reinvestigation of Dorner's case should be done by an independent commission, not the LAPD.

The vigil did not appear to be organized by any formal group and had no scheduled starting or end time.

Some heard about about it first through Facebook, including the "I Support Christopher Dorner" page.

What is scarier than Dorner killing innocent people is having the possibility that the LAPD's wrongdoing in punishing an innocent man, punishing a whistleblower, against that 1989 Act, may have been the "trigger," or at least a major contributing factor in this public nightmare. If the media does not investigate the Dorner allegations against the LAPD, I fear another monster may be created. How did this man, who possessed a very difficultly-achieved and highly-coveted Top Secret clearance in the Navy, a position that only persons of the highest intellect and pristine record in all areas, can obtain, a man of the highest ideals who turned in $8,000 of church money in Ohio, suddenly became a violent monster killing innocent people? Did he just "explode," as in Langston Hugh's famous poem, "What happens to a dream deferred? Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun? Or fester like a sore— And then run? Does it stink like rotten meat? Or crust and sugar over— like a syrupy sweet? Maybe it just sags like a heavy load. Or does it explode?" Please investigate the dirty laundry of the LAPD, and his military background thoroughly to get to the nitty gritty bottom of this very dark and possibly "contagious" problem. Thank you for your time. We know he went off the deep end, but why? Very Respectfully, Terry CW4, US Army, Retired

Terry - Well written! Christopher Dorner's actions are unspeakable, definitely unthinkable! He definitely went to a place of NO return! Personally, I'd like to know who Christopher Dorner was before LAPD. And, who Officer Christopher Dorner was once he joined the force. And, once the smoke settles - a thorough investigation of LAPD is needed! Line-up Against Police Discrimination

TUNE IN TOMORROW . HEAR HOW NE DETECTIVES SECURED A CONVICTION AGAINST AN INNOCENT MAN. THAT SAD PART ABOUT IT IS THAT THERE ARE PROBABLY MANY LATINOS HERE IN HLP THAT ARE SITTING IN PRISON ALSO THAT ARE AFRAID TO SPEAK AGAINST THIS TYPE OF INJUSTICE Wrongfully Convicted and sentenced to 90 yrs to life for a crime everyone knows he didn't do. Even the LAPD Northeast Div. Detectives. Monday Feb. 18 @ 10am - 11am Tune into http://wmarmedia.com/nevada.html to hear all about the injustice that Matthew Turner has suffered at the hands of the LAPD. With all that is going on in the Chris Darner story this might be the opportune time to expose Widespread corruption throughout the LAPD.
