Candidates for Open CD 13 Seat to Join Forum in Elysian Valley Tuesday

The Elysian Park Riverside Neighborhood Council is sponsoring the debate.

On Tuesday, February 19, 2013, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. the Elysian Valley Riverside Neighborhood Council will host a forum for the 12 candidates running for the open City Council District 13 seat.

The primary municipal election in that race will take place March 5.

Candidates have already participated in a number of conversations--in Silver Lake, Atwater Village, Hollywood and Echo Park.

The focus in this forum will shift to key issues affecting the Elysian Valley including:

1.      Concerns about the Metrolink diesel train facility located along the Los Angeles River.


2.      Plans to open the Glendale Narrows stretch of the Los Angeles River for recreation and development.

3.      Continuing perceived inequities in infrastructure and zoning in the area.

Elysian Valley abuts the western bank of the Los Angeles River between Fletcher Drive and the intersection of the 110 and 5 freeways.

The forum, at the Elysian Valley Recreation Center, 1811 Ripple Street, Los Angeles (Elysian Valley), CA 90039 will be co-moderated by Oswaldo Borraez, reporter, Univision Channel 34 Los Angeles, and Anthea Raymond, Editor, Echo Park-Silver Lake Patch.
