Water Main Break Slows Traffic Friday Afternoon on Sunset

Bystanders say a man veered off Sunset Boulevard into a fire hydrant and then drove off.

A gusher greeted folks heading down Sunset around 4:30 p.m. Friday.  The wall of water came after a driver clipped off a fire hydrant while heading east on Sunset Boulevard just before Reno Street in Silver Lake.

Firefighters quickly arrived and turned the spigot off.  But not before bystanders got to enjoy the early summer spray.

The driver took off down Reno after crashing into a fence.  You can see a photo of his license plate in the accompanying photo gallery.
