Update: Man Shot Dead Wednesday on North Coronado Street in Echo Park

He was shot multiple times and died in the hospital. His identity is unknown.

Police are now investigating a shooting Wednesday in the 400 block of North Coronado Street that left one man dead.

According to Wes Buhrmester of the LAPD's Rampart Division,a neighbor called firefighters and police about a man on the ground in the 400 block of North Coronado Street.

A male, about 30, he said, had been shot multiple times. He was taken to a hospital, and died there.

The man had no identification on him.  Offiers and detectives shut down traffic on a stretch of Coronado Wednesday afternoon, looking for witnesses or someone who could identify the man.

None were found. Police still don't know whether the shooting was gang-related.

Echo Park Patch talked to a nearby resident just after the shooting. He said he had  passed by several young men sitting on the stoop of a white apartment building known for gang activity just before hearing the shots. 

He said other neighbors were speculating that the shooter may have ridden by on a bicycle.
