UPDATE: Alleged Killer of Silver Lake Man Arrested

Rampart police have now confirmed that Ian Schlesinger, 24, is in custody for the July 30th slaying of John Marshall High graduate Ivan Pedroza.

In custody is Ian Schlesinger, 24, of North Hollywood. 

According Rampart Division Lt. Wesley Buhrmester, he was booked on a warrant for Pedroza's murder.

Schlesinger was also charged with attempted murder after shooting at police officers with a rifle after his car crashed at Seventh and Bixel streets Tuesday night.

Schlesinger is in custody at County/USC Medical Center, where he was taken early Wednesday with multiple gunshot wounds.

He is said to be in stable condition.

His bail is set at $2 million.

Schlesinger's brother, Jack, was killed by police in a similar incident on Temple Street in Echo Park in 2010 involving stolen car and an AK-47.

Earlier: Police have released the name of the man shot in a shoot out after a car chase Tuesday evening.

He is Ian Schlesinger, 24, who is being held on an arrest warrant.

He was hospitalized in critical but stable condition with multiple gunshot wounds to his lower extremities.

He  will also face possible charges that include carjacking and assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, said Los Angeles police spokesman Richard French.

Schlesinger--wanted in connection with a carjacking on Tuesday morning as well as a July homicide--pulled out a ``long rifle'' after exiting the car he was driving, then fired at officers and was shot several times.

No officer was hurt.
