We should all take a moment of silence for the loss of a hero who only intended to make that poor ugly building beautiful with his street name and gang affiliation. He really should have been home studying for college exams...

This is a sad and more complex story than the length of the article would suggest. It is sad because this man is someone's son. It's sad because this son died for something as inconsequential as the local tagging war. It's especially sad and disappointing that there are people on this fine blog who would revel in this person's death.

Climbing a tree to put grafitti up is not something a gangster would do, so this kid was just a tagger, not gang member. In these neighborhoods, it's just the thing to do. This kid probably has parents from Central America or Mexico that did not go to school like we did, and don't know the importance of education, neither do most other parents in these neighborhoods. So you have kids not taking school seriously and doing things like this. Al Sanchez, have you ever j-walked or cheated on anything? If you died doing so would it be OK to celebrate your death? This kid wasn't robbing or hurting.

What happened to simply huffing the spray paint like they did in the good-old-days?
