Update: Hollywood Red Line Stabbing

Police say the man pulled a sharp instrument--possibly a box cutter--on a couple at the Holllywood Boulevard and Western Avenue station about 4:45 a.m. Tuesday.

The stabbing shut down the station til about 8 a.m. during the morning commute,

According to Mike Parker of the Los Angeles Sheriffs Department, investigators have been reviewing surveillance video.

They confirmed that a young African-American male, appproximately 25-years-old, stepped in and stabbed a couple in an argument.

His height is unknown, but he was bald and wearing a grey "hoodie" and black pants.

The man confronted the man and woman on the mezzanine level of the station.

He is still at large after fleeing the station on foot.

The male, 30, had lacerations to the neck and was in serious but stable condition. The woman, 33, had less serious injuries.

They were both taken to a local hospital.

The L.A. County Sheriff's Department provides public safety on Metro trains and buses.

Another stabbing took place on the Red Line in August.
