Echo Park Shooting Death: Few Leads

Detectives were still working the case late Wednesday evening. They are seeking several suspects but are not sure the death is gang-related.

LAPD's Rampart Division first received a radio call around 11 a.m.

Someone had been shot on a stairway just above Glendale Boulevard near the southwest corner of Echo Park Lake.

A body was discovered about halfway up the staircase that ends at Belmont and Bellevue avenues. A 35-year-old man was soon pronounced dead at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds.

The EastsiderLA reported that neighbors say they heard at least six gunshots around 11 a.m. nearby.

The staircase is above a stretch of Glendale Boulevard heavily trafficked in daylight hours and just across from a playground and the 101 Freeway.

According to Homicide Detective Chris Linscomb police have several leads in the case but nothing definite.

He says they would be helped by additional information from residents who may have heard or seen something.

Those with information can call Detective Linscomb at (213) 484-3642.
