Sobriety Checkpoint Planned on Hollywood Boulevard Friday Night

Los Angeles police officers will conduct sobriety tests and check for licenses 8 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday.

The Los Angeles Police Department will set up a sobriety checkpoint on Hollywood Boulevard between Gower Street and Bronson Avenue Friday night, according to a news release on its website.

Officers will stop drivers, check for licenses and observe for signs of alcohol or drug-related impairment.

"Drivers caught driving impaired can expect jail, license suspension, and insurance increases, as well as fines, fees, DUI classes, other expenses that can exceed $10,000," according to the news release.

Funding for the checkpoint is provided to the LAPD by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Apparently Hollywood traffic won't be bad enough with the Sunset/Vine incident blocking that whole intersection. Perhaps LAPD could reschedule.

PERHAPS THEY SHOULD RESCHEDULE PERMANENTLY!! THE POLICE ARE ALWAYS THERE WHEN YOU DON'T NEED THEM AND NOT THERE WHEN YOU DO. SO, THEY DECIDE TO PICK A LONG CITY BLOCK TO CHECK LICENSES AND STUFF. ALL THE DRUNKS HAVE TO DO IS AVOID THE CHECKPOINT! IT'S NOT A WONDER WHY PEOPLE DISLIKE POLICE INTENSELY. WE CAN'T DO WITHOUT THEM BUT WE SURE WISH THEY WOULD JUST GO AWAY!!! STOP THE POLICE STATE!!!
