UPDATED: Man on Life Support After Shooting in Silver Lake

Police are interviewing two witnesses who were with the victim when he was shot early Sunday morning.

A shooting in the Silver Lake Sunday morning has left one person on life support in a hospital, police said. He was not expected to survive.

Los Angeles police Lt. Rick Stabile of the LAPD"s Northeast division told Patch that the shooting at Silver Lake Boulevard and West Scott Place was reported at 5:08 a.m. KTLA reports that the victim crashed his truck after getting shot in the face through the driver's side window.

Early police reports have described the shooter as a Latino man in his 20s who was driving a green Honda with a female passenger, but Stabile could not immediately confirm that.

Update: Police have not identified the victim, but the owner and general manager of El Chavo restaurant identified him to Eastsider LA as Juan David Lomas, who worked as a busboy and waiter in addition to a second job at nearby Garage Pizza. Lomas, who is believed to be in his early 20s, was dropping off fellow employees when he was shot, the site reported.

In a later call by Patch to the Northeast station, Sgt. Roberto Alaniz confirmed that the victim was driving a Chevy pickup and that the suspect is a male Latino driving a four-door car. Alamiz said police are in the process of interviewing the two other people who were riding in the pickup with the victim.
