No officers were injured, but the man is hospitalized in stable but good condition after being shot in the legs.

Nearby businesses too saw traffic slow with Seventh Street out of Downtown Los Angeles closed for the night.

Monty, a popular bar on Seventh Street, was virtually empty. Staff blamed the incident.

Echo Park-Silver Lake Patch is expecting more news about the man injured in the shoot out, believed to be a suspect in a July murder.

Police say he is the brother of Jack Schlesinger, who was shot and killed off Temple Street in 2010 in a similar shoot out involving a car chase and a rifle.
