Update: Police Seek Man Who Tried to Kidnap Girl in NELA

A man with a pockmarked face tried to abduct a 16-year-old girl walking to school in Cypress Park.

Update: Police have issued a composite sketch of a man they are seeking in connection with an attempted kidnapping in Cypress Park Thursday morning.

Officer Daniel Rios of LAPD's Northeast Division said officers are still looking for the suspect in the kidnapping attempt that occurred at around 8 a.m. near Cypress Avenue and Silver Street.

Rios said the suspect was driving an older red work truck at the time. He added that the man was scratched in the face by the 16-year-old girl he attempted to kidnap.

"That should make him more recognizable," Rios said.

You can view the sketch above.

Officers said the would-be victim who alerted them to kidnapping was not injured.

"She escaped and she was the one who called police," Rios said.

Susan, Racist comments speculating that the suspect in this alleged abduction is Armenian because it is near the Kia dealership is just insane. Why not speculate that the suspect is Greek because the hamburger stand across from Glendale Kia is owned by a family with that ethnic origin? You do nothing to elevate the discussion with your racist buzz words.

It really has nothing to do with the car dealership. It has only to do with the features of the face. Is that racist too? Only racist read racist into this. It has nothing to do with race.

Are people that lame? It may be important to know that the person may be something different than described. Based on facial features the guy may be a different ethnicity based only on the drawing. People need to stop calling me a racist. Police use descriptions of suspects including people's race. But yet police are not called racist. Maybe the police should also not have called the guy "latino". Call LAPD Police Chief Charlie Beck and complain!! No more using race in describing a suspect. That is racist. 1-877-ASK-LAPD
