Police Looking for Joseph Gatto Jewelry Pieces in Homicide Investigation

Gatto, who was found slain in his Silver Lake home, was known for his unique jewelry pieces.

The Los Angeles Police Department on Thursday asked for the public's help in finding any jewelery pieces that may have been taken from Joseph Gatto and sold to pawn shops following his death.

Gatto, who was found shot to death in his Silver Lake home last month, was known for his unique hand-made jewelry pieces crafted from precious metals, stones, bone, ivory, porcelain, glass, wood and Egyptian scarabs, police said.

Police also said that many of Gatto's jewelry pieces were engraved with the initials "J A Gatto" along with a circular design.

Investigators said they are searching for any pieces that may have been purchased or sold by pawn shops in the area.

Anyone with information on the jewelry pieces is asked to call the LAPD Robbery-Homicide Division at 213-486-6890 during regular business hours or the LAPD Realtime Analysis & Critical Response (RACR) Division at 213-484-6700 at any time of the day.

Anonymous tips can also be left by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or by texting TIPLA and the tip to 274637 (CRIMES).
