Dogs, Choppers as Police Chase Suspect in Angeleno Heights

Police shut down the area around 1400 block of Allison Street early Thursday searching for a burglary suspect.

Helicopters and bright lights early Thursday in Angeleno Heights had some Echo Park residents wondering what was going on.

According to Lt. Wesley Buhrmester of the LAPD's Rampart division, police were chasing a burglary suspect and closed off the area around the 1400 block of Allison Avenue.

Police got a a call saying the man was in the area around 11:45 p.m. Wednesday. Patrol officers saw man on foot about 1 a.m. and began the chase.

Allison Avenue--roughly between Laveta Terrace and Douglas Street--was closed off and the chopper, extra officers and canines were called in.

The search went on for several hours, although the man was not apprehended.
