LAPD Arrest Suspected Car Thief After Search Near Elysian Park

The suspect was found in the area of the transition road linking the southbound Golden State Freeway to the southbound 110 Freeway.

LAPD officers apprehended a man they had been chasing Thursday morning suspected of stealing a car.

According to Wesley Buhrmeister of LAPD's Rampart Division, the man was apprehended around 10:40 am in the area just north of Elysian Park where the southbound Golden State Freeway links to the southbound 110 freeway.

Police had set up a perimeter around the Home Depot area on San Fernando Road, but the suspect seemd to have have crossed the LA River bottom.

Several police cars and an LAPD helicopters were part of the chase, which began just after 8:30 a.m.
