Pedestrian Struck on Riverside Drive

The pedestrian was struck around 10 p.m. Thursday in the 2600 block of Riverside Drive at the intersection of Fletcher Drive.

Police said today they may have a single clue in the hit-and-run death of a pedestrian in Atwater Village.

The pedestrian was struck around 10 p.m. Thursday in the 2600 block of Riverside Drive at the intersection of Fletcher Drive, said Los Angeles police Officer Bruce Borihanh.

The victim was believed to be a male in his mid-40s, said Sgt. Rhiannon Talley of the Los Angeles Police Central Traffic Division. He was wearing dark clothing and carrying no identification or other personal papers with him.

Talley said the victim was crossing Riverside illegally, as there was no crosswalk at the point where he was struck by a southbound vehicle. She said he was struck twice and dragged a short distance from the initial point of impact before two drivers reported the accident.

The suspect's vehicle may be a black Hyundai or Kia, Talley said, based on the vehicle side mirror, which was left at the scene. The vehicle must have left side damage, police said.

There were no witnesses, Talley said, nor has any video footage turned up.
