Update: Dog in Occupy L.A. Treehouse Reunited With Owner

The search for Lucky was on Friday on as his owner, and hundreds of others arrested Wednesday, awaited release. The head of L.A.'s Department of Animal Services later confirmed that the dog was returned to his owner.

Update: Looks like Lucky, the dog taken down out of a treehouse early Wednesday by police at Occupy L.A., has been reunited with his owner.

Occupy L.A. sent us this tweet just after 2 pm. Friday:

We hear that Lucky has been found & returned to his owner. The guy in the photo sure could use a home.

Brenda Barnette, head of the Los Angeles Department of Animal Services, confirmed that about an hour later in a comment on this article.

We asked Barnette if she had a picture of the animal--no luck so far.

But here's a link to a KNBC video that shows the black-and-white terrier-like Lucky being carried off Wednesday morning.

Earlier: As it neared 5 a.m. Wednesday morning, police were using a lift to remove began the last protesters from a treehouse they had built on the City Hall lawn.

It was a surprise for everyone to see that a dog was there too.

Now Occupy L.A. organizers are wondering what happened to Lucky.

In several tweets Friday morning they posted listings from the Los Angeles Department of Animal Services asking, "Is this Lucky?"

See one here.

Curious, we have reached out to Brenda Barnette of Animal Services about how Lucky might be found.

Meantime, hundreds of those arrested Wednesday remain in custody, with some arguing Friday is the deadline for their release.
