Many in Silver Lake, Los Feliz Still Without Power

As of 9:15 a.m. Saturday, at least 3,000 customers were still without power.

UPDATE: As of 3 p.m., the DWP said only the 1,400 in Los Feliz remained without power.

EARLIER: "After the storm" clean up efforts kicked into high gear Saturday, with several scheduled in Echo Park alone.

Meantime, at least 3,000 customers in Los Feliz (1,400) and Silver Lake (1,600) remained without power as of 9:15 a.m. Saturday. That was down from at least 3,800 at 6 a.m.

Those customers are concentrated in the Franklin Hills and in the area around Rowena and Glendale boulevards.

The LADWP and Bureau of Street Services crews say they are working continuously to deal with the issues.

In Echo Park, folks gathered at the Elysian Heights Elementary School on hard-hit Echo Park Avenue on Saturday morning to clean up damage from the storm there.

Meantime, reader Ed Pearl urged friends in his daily email, "Pick up some of the oranges lying around on the street. Like making lemonade - know what I mean?!

Ed said there were many to be found on ground near Kellum and Edgeware in Angeleno Heights.

He also says a friend over in Silver Lake lost all the oranges off her tree.

Windstorm debris can also be brought directly to the attention of the Bureau of Street Services, which can be reached at (800) 996-2489 or by dialing City Information at 311 and asking for the bureau.
