Man Robs Beer From Echo Park Store, Punches Customer in Face

A man allegedly stole beer from an Echo Park 7-Eleven and punched a customer in the face multiple time.

The Los Angeles Police Department Rampart Division is asking for the public's help in identifying a man who allegedly robbed a 7-Eleven in Echo Park and then punched a customer on this way out of the store.

According to police, the suspect, identified in surveillance footage, allegedly entered the store at 2200 West Sunset Boulevard on Oct. 20 at 11 p.m. and proceeded to take two 18-packs of beer without paying for them.

As the suspect exited the store, police say he then punched a customer who attempted to confront the suspect. The customer was punched two to three times in the face, causing him to fall on the ground, police said.

During the altercation, police said the suspect dropped one of the cases of beer and then proceeded to flee the location headed northbound on Waterloo Street from Sunset Boulevard.

The suspect is described by police as a 20-25 year old Hispanic male with brown hair, brown eyes weighing 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black baseball hat, gray t-shirt and black pants. He also has an unknown tattoo on the top of his left hand.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Los Angeles Police Department detective F. Prieto at 213-484-3627. After hours tips can be called into the Rampart Division watch commander at 213-484-3400.
