Northeast Division Chases Possible Holiday Intruder in Elysian Heights

According to reports, the man was taken into custody without incident.

Police and firefighters reportedly swarmed Elysian Heights early Friday afternoon, along with a chopper or two.

That's after a man was reported to have have barricaded himself in a home near Wolcott Way and Peru Street.

Turns out he was an intruder, who was apprehended by police about 1:45 p.m. just down the street, according to The Eastsider, which broke the story.

No one was injured, though neighbors told The Eastsider that police had tear gas cans ready.

Both the Northeast and Rampart divisions have been warning of a rise in property crimes that often comes with the holidays.

So take extra precautions--and lock windows, doors, and vehicles too.
