Update: Man Fatally Shot in Westlake; Suspect Identified

The shooting occurred at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday morning, police said.

Update: Police have identified the suspect as Santos Navor-Flores, who is described as 5-foot-7 and 170 pounds, with dark hair and brown eyes.

Update: The Los Angeles County Coroner's office has identified the victim as 21-year-old Manuel Campos of Los Angeles.

Original: A man was fatally shot in the head near the intersection of Fifth Street and Union Avenue following "some kind of dispute" at 12:30 a.m. Saturday morning, according to Rampart Station officers. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, said Sgt. Michael Maibe, Rampart watch commander.

No details regarding the suspect were available, Mabie said. Earlier in the morning, police told City News Service that the victim was in his early 20s and was "partying and drinking" with his friends in front of an apartment building. Someone from inside the apartment emerged, police told CNS, the dispute occurred and eventually ended with the suspect firing at the victim, hitting him once in the head.

The victim's name has yet to be released.
