Update: Police Arrest Two Alleged Gang Members, One With Fake Credit Cards

Northeast officers arrested two alleged members of the Crazies, one for possessing potentially fraudulent credit cards.

Update: Northeast Division officers arrested two females at about 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the 1600 block of Mohawk Avenue, according to Sergeant Victor Arellano of the gang unit.

One was arrested and booked for an outstanding warrant. The other was booked for possessing narcotics and possibly fraudulent credit cards.

Both females have alleged ties to the Silver Lake-Echo Park gang, the Crazies.

Four males, also alleged gang members, fled the scene, where the group was observed.

Arellano said it is hard to know exactly how the credit cards were being used, but gang unit detectives are continuing their investigation.

Arellano said it is unusual to see individuals with alleged gang ties in the gentrified neighborhood near Glendale Boulevard where these individuals were observed on Sunday.

Earlier: According to the moderator on the LAPD Northeast Division Facebook page Tuesday afternoon:

A few days ago our Gang Unit did arrest a few Crazies gang members running a pretty elaborate fraud racket (fake credit cards, etc.). May not be as exciting as a gun arrest, but let's face it: more and more that identity theft touches us all and is a real pain to deal with!

The moderator went on to say, "When Summer rolls around gang activity usually picks up" as school is out and the weather is hot.

We've reached out to Northeast Division's gang unit for details about the incident.
