Known Gang Member Shot in Historic Filipinotown Thursday

The young man was shot in the legs by another gang member and will survive.

Another young man was shot just south of Echo Park/Silver Lake Thursday.

He will survive his wounds, according to LAPD Rampart division Lt. Wesley Buhrmester.

Thursday's incident occured near Beverly Boulevard and Vendome Street, where gang activity is a known factor.

Rampart officers responded to the call just before noon, where they saw the male victim with gunshots to the legs.

The young man is a known gang member and, according to the police report, was talking with another gang member right before the shooting.

He was taken to a local emergency room.

Gang detectives spent several hours on the scene, and the area around the incident was shutdown.
