Friday's Angeleno Heights Search Ends with Arrest

Police apprehended Joseph Gutierrez after two other failed searches Thursday. Gutierrez may have committed as many as four other break-ins recently.

Three’s a charm.

Rampart police have arrested and charged the suspect they’ve been looking for over the last few days in the area around Allison Avenue in Angeleno Heights.

According to Lt. Wesley Buhrmester of LAPD's Rampart division, he’s Joseph Gutierrez, 34, of Los Angeles. He was booked at the Metropolitan Detention Center for burglary, based on an incident reported at 12:15 am on Wednesday.

He's being held on at least $50,000 bail, for the burglary, and will appear before a judge no earlier than Monday.

, also in the area around Allison Avenue in Angeleno Heights where he was apprehended.

The searches, which occurred early Thursday and again Thursday evening, involved choppers and dogs, as well as numerous police units.

Numerous residents reached out to Echo Park Patch about the noise and confusion via Twitter and Facebook.

Gutierrez is also being investigated in connection with four other break-ins near Sunset Boulevard in the last week or so.

Lt. Buhrmester said he is not “known to have hurt anyone or have been in involved in any property crimes.”
