Fire in Echo Park Causes Damage, No Injuries

The fire damaged the first floor of a building on North Coronado Street and Sunset Boulevard.

Flames caused significant damage to the commercial space on the first floor of a building on North Coronado Street and Sunset Boulevard, in Echo Park, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman said Monday.

The fire in the two-story, building with apartments on the second floor, was reported at 10:01 p.m. Sunday, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Katherine Main.

Flames were showing from the first floor when the first of 29 firefighters arrived at the scene, Main said.

Knockdown was reported in 34 minutes, she said.

Two firefighters suffered non life-threatening injuries during the mop- up operation and had to be transported to hospitals with stable vital signs, Main said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation, she said.
