'Dog Killer Alert' Flyer Is Likely Hoax

An LAPD detective says she is not aware of any dogs being "destroyed" in Silver Lake, Atwater or Los Feliz as the flyer claims.

A flyer circulating on the Internet saying someone is killing dogs in Silver Lake, Los Felix and Atwater is likely a hoax.

"There is absolutely no indication that dogs are being killed or harmed in anyway," said Patricia Sandoval, head of detectives at LAPD's Northeast Division, which covers most of Silver Lake, as well as Los Feliz and Atwater Village.

"If animals were being destroyed or stolen, we would almost certainly be aware of it."

It includes graphic images of dead dogs and also this statement:

Starting on February 24, 2013, slaughtered dogs have been appearing in the Silver Lake/Los Feliz/Atwater area. Several were found dead in their own yards, with warning notes about nuisance barking and public excrement.

The flyer goes on to say that there have been at least five of these incidents.

Have you seen a picture of the fliers or perhaps the fliers themselves? Have you seen anyone posting them?  What would be his or her motives?
