CHP Chase Through Echo Park Monday Night

A stolen vehicle exited the 101 Freeway at Glendale Boulevard and headed north to Sunset, just before 7 p.m.

Echo Park residents may have seen California Highway Patrol officers chasing a stolen vehicle down Sunset Boulevard last night just before 7 p.m.

CHP had chased the vehicle all the way from Diamond Bar on the 60, 57, 210, 10 and 101 freeways, before the driver ducked off the 101 at Glendale Boulevard.

He then headed north on Glendale, up Park, presumably, and then onto Sunset Boulevard.

According to the CHP's Southern Division spokesperson, the driver went all the way downtown on Sunset before turning south on Spring Street.

According to City News Service, the driver was moving against traffic and nearly hit several vehicles.

The driver and his passenger eventually exited his car, near Adams Boulevard and Central Avenue, where Newton Division police set up a perimeter.

LAPD K-9s helped in the search, and eventually discovered the suspect hiding in a shed.

An LAPD helicopter also assisted in the pursuit.
