LAPD Rampart Division officers will be hosting a press conference Thursday morning.
Their goal is to raise community awareness around rising car burglaries and thefts this year--up 25.5 percent according to a Rampart press release.
The statement also says that thefts of unattended property like backpacks and laptops are also up 14.2 percent.
