Rampart: Car Thefts and Burglaries Up Sharply in 2012

Burglaries and thefts in the LAPD's Rampart Division are up more than 25 percent in 2012.

LAPD Rampart Division officers will be hosting a press conference Thursday morning.

Their goal is to raise community awareness around rising car burglaries and thefts this year--up 25.5 percent according to a Rampart press release.

The statement also says that thefts of unattended property like backpacks and laptops are also up 14.2 percent.
