Brush Fire Near 134 Freeway Backs Up Traffic

The fire started just before 11 a.m. and closed several lanes of traffic.

A fire scorched several acres of brush north of the Ventura (134) Freeway in Eagle Rock Tuesday, backing up traffic.

The blaze was reported near Figueroa Street about 11 a.m., said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department. Firefighters appeared to have gained the upper hand on the flames within an hour.

No cause was determined.

No structures were damaged, and no one was hurt. Humphrey said.

Three westbound freeway lanes were closed while crews worked to clear
the scene, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Reader Paul Lacques contributed the above photo, shot from above Eagle Rock in Highland Park.
