Broken Water Main Repaired on Glendale Boulevard

A water main break in Echo Park Friday caused street flooding and snarled traffic during the evening rush hour.

The break in an 8-inch main in the 1700 block of Glendale Boulevard near Effie Street was reported around 5 p.m., said Kim Hughes of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.

A total of 25 customers had their service disrupted, Hughes said.

Crews were at the scene making repairs and service should be restored later tonight, she said.

The break prompted a full closure of Glendale Boulevard, snarling evening rush traffic in the area, according to broadcast reports.
