LAPD Central Traffic Division detectives will be trying to find out more about what happened Tuesday evening at Rowena Avenue and West Silver Lake Drive.
That's where a car headed west on Rowena struck a man crossing the street at the light.
Sergeant Chris Carson, Acting Watch Commander at the LAPD's Central Traffic Division, told Patch that LAFD Station 56 paramedics took the man to County USC Medical Center.
He was treated for some injuries, though his condition was not critical. He appeared to be in his mid to late twenties.
Carter said the driver, a female, remained on the scene, and was fully registered and licensed.
A witness reportedly said the car did not stop at the red light where the man was crossing in the crosswalk.
Patch blogger Josh Post (and CD 13 candidate) was at the accident scene just a few minutes after the man was struck.
Another pedestrian died crossing Rowena recently. A jogger was also hit by a car on West Silver Lake Drive near the Reservoir.
The incidents, combined with a pedestrian death in Echo Park, have made traffic safety a hot topic in both Silver Lake and Echo Park, with CD 4's Tom LaBonge's office recently organizing a community meeting on the subject.
An LADWP pipeline project will roil Rowena for several more months.
