Five violent crimes were reported in Echo Park in the last week of 2013 and into the first days of the new year, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The Times considers this a significant jump.
These were the incidents reported between Dec. 28-Jan. 3:
- Aggravated assault at Court and Bixel streets at 4:05 p.m. on Jan. 2.
- Robbery at Lemoyne and Sunset Boulevard at 3 a.m. on Jan. 2.
- Robbert at Coronado and Bellevue at 12:05 a.m. on Jan. 1
- Robbery at Temple Street and Laveta Terrace at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 29.
- Rape in 500 block of north Coronado Street at 10 p.m. on Dec. 28.
