3.2 Quake Thumps Los Angeles Monday

This Labor Day came in with a bang and a bump.

A magnitude-3.2 earthquake centered in Beverly Hills shook much of Los Angeles' Westside Monday morning.

No structural damage was reported, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey.

According to City News Service, the jolt woke many people from Marina del Rey to Hollywood.

A quick scan of Twitter showed very little awareness or activity in the Echo Park and Silver Lake area, however.

According to at least one seismologist,  the quake was part of "normal seismicity," pointing to a 3.4 jolt in the same area Aug. 11.

Silver Lake-based emergency prep expert Christal Smith advises those who might be worried about the "big one" to be sure they have a plan in place.

Consider where family members might meet after in an emergency. Also stock water and a headlamp where you can get them. And always keep a tank of gas half full.
