It’s been an exciting time for edgy folk artists, hip craftmakers, and distinctive designers.
With the extraordinary online success of Etsy and the wildly popular traveling gift shows like Unique and Renegade, homegrown artists have been able to find a niche audience of willing Americans ready to bypass the corporate mall outposts like Urban Outfitters and buy directly from the maker in cool, little happenings.
Silver Lake's monthly Art, Craft & Vintage Fair is one example. The "Shop Hop" taking over Sunset Boulevard and environs after Saturday's Echo Park Community Parade is another.
Fortunately for us, we live in a trendsetting side of town and some of our most inventive makers are setting up shop Saturday for the Bitchcraft Trading Post, a city-hopping event highlighting native talent and its art.
Held at the Bedrock Studios on Allesandro off Glendale (where all your favorite bands hang out), the pop-up gift show begins at noon and will last until 5 p.m.
Besides all the rad clothing, sweet handmade crafts, and fine herbal products, there will also be tarot card readings, several DJs spinning, and local food like Bling Bling Dumplings and Bitter Tears on hand.
Pass up the parking nightmares of the Americana on Brand and keep your holiday budget in your own neighborhood. And guys, this promises to bring out the most beautiful women in town, so show up and support!
