Photo: Skunked on Vendome Street in Silver Lake

Local resident Frank Stoltze caught this critter with his tail up Thursday near the Music Box Steps

The skunks are out, hitting our urban valleys with a vengeance.

We recently sent our own White Dog over to the K-9 Loft after an encounter in our backyard in the Maltman Hills.

We were one of three deskunkings that day.

Silver Lake resident Frank Stoltze snapped the above photo with Instagram.

It shows again these critters can co-exist with the concrete.

Frank encountered the skunk Thursday on Vendome Street in the Laurel and Hardy Park just below the Music Box Steps.

Check out that tail.

Hi. Our deaf dog Edie has been skunked in our front yard about four times. A great home remedy you can do in your own bathtub is Dawn dishwashing liquid, baking soda and hydrogen peroxide- mix 16 ounces of hydrogen peroxide a tablespoon of dawn and 1/2 cup of baking soda. Do not cover. Douse stinky dog, bathe and it's amazing how it de-skunks your friend.

Kathleen...you have guts! I would never have been able to clean our beloved Gigi in my bathtub after one of her regular fights with a neighborhood skunk!! My son would try everything he could and washed her outside and we never found a really good remedy...you might have found it! Thanks!

Get some owls, natural predators to skunks. Owls are meat eaters and they have no sense of smell.
