The Run Downhill Daughter Chautauqua comes to life in April
for Vol. 5 – DUST, at HM157. The Daughter Chautauqua combines music,
literature, art and film, alongside lecture and discussion, designed to bridge
the gap between entertainment and lifelong education. Focusing on core values
of inclusion and social transparency, the show has left audiences buzzing with
excitement, steeped in contemplation, and ready for more!

At the center of the Daughter Chautauqua program is Run
Downhill’s folk-inspired, narrative-driven music performed masterfully by
musicians Colin Burgess, Nate LaPointe, Tom Moose, and T.J. Troy. For this
month’s installment, special musical guests include Dimitris Mahlis performing
Turkish oud and percussion duets with host T.J. Troy; and Warm Climate, Los
Angeles-based experimental indie rock band!

A very special feature of this month’s show is a phone-in
conversation with Washington State horticulturalist Jake Gutzwiler; Jake is
part of a multi-generational family of apple and cherry orchardists from
Wenatchee, WA. In a live broadcast phone interview, we’ll talk with Jake about
current issues surrounding the food and farming industry.

Run Downhill’s music is cross-contextualized with comic book
art and narrative: each RDh Daughter Chautauqua program features the premiere
of a new Song Comic. Written by resident storyteller John Castlerock, and
illustrated by Quinn Salazar, these gritty stories of loss and redemption come
to life in video form, accompanied live by Run Downhill’s dark and lingering
melodies.

Simultaneously classic and innovative, the Run Downhill
Daughter Chautauqua combines real music with real ideas, challenges the
audience’s perspective, and provides a wonderful alternative to live music in
Los Angeles. This program is presented in conjunction with HM157, one of Los
Angeles’ premiere event and performance spaces.
