For this rich and wide-ranging program, Salonen is joined by acclaimed Canadian singer Gerald Finley for Lutosławski’s setting of Robert Desnos’ poem “The Spaces of Sleep.” Brilliant young French pianist David Fray performs Schumann’s magnificently Romantic concerto. The program opens with Salonen’s newest orchestral creation, and concludes with Tchaikosky’s super-charged tone poem.
