Updated: Power Coming Back on; Outage Investigated

A power outage affected about 1,500 Echo Park and Silver Lake residents this morning. DWP is investigating the cause.

Update: A power line in Silver Lake has been taken offline, leaving about 1,000 residents without power, as Department of Water and Power technicians investigate a power outage that hit the Echo Park area Tuesday morning.

A DWP spokeswoman said it's uncertain how long the Silver Lake residents will be without electricity, but that officials hope to get the power back on as soon as possible.

Earlier: Power was slowly returning for about 1,500 Echo Park and Silver Lake residents who woke up to a power outage Tuesday morning.

A spokesperson from the LA Department of Water and Power told Patch that power was restored to all residents at approximately 11 a.m. But some commenters on the Eastsider LA blog, which first reported the outage, posted around 1 p.m. that they are still without power.

The cause of the power outage is unknown, and DWP is currently investigating.
