Mayor Endorses John Choi in Council District 13 Race
Many local leaders favor Mitch O'Farrell, a former Council District 13 staffer.
Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa has endorsed John Choi, one of the two candidates in the runoff election for the open Los Angeles City Council District 13 seat.
In a statement released Thursday, Villaraigosa called Choi a "true leader."

"John has proven to me and those who have worked with him that he will deliver in the fight for better schools, safer communities, and a cleaner more sustainable environment," he adds.

O'Farrell has had long-term exposure in the district and is favored by many local leaders, including Councilmembers Ed Reyes and Tom LaBonge.
Choi, a former Public Works Commissioner, has received the backing of many labor groups and was the leading fundraiser in the primary race.
