Five Injured in Helicopter Crash Near Griffith Park
Those on board suffered only minor injuries.
A private helicopter has gone down in Griffith Park injuring five people.
The small helicopter crashed near McComb Helispot above the Roosevelt Municipal Golf Course on a hillside in the Griffith Park area around 2:17 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, according to Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Four people on board, a pilot, a 25-year-old man and two women, aged 33 and 25 suffered minor injuries, according to Scott. A 50-year-old park ranger has been taken to a hospital in serious condition with heat exhaustion.
The helicopter ended up on its side with its tail broken. Firefighters were on the scene of the crash.
The cause of the crash is unknown.
