A puppet show and the Silver Lake Farmers Market are among the offerings.

There is plenty to choose from this weekend in the area if you're looking to stay in your own neck of the woods.

Here are a few family-friendly things happening in the area:

There will be a free family concert at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Riff Rockit at Dragonfly DuLou at 2066 Hillhurst Ave. The show is appropriate for all ages and will feature an afternoon of "educational rhymes for rockin’ good times, ” guaranteed to make you move your feet.

Puppets Retake Northeast Los Angeles, featuring hand puppets, marionettes and shadow puppets, will take place at 8 p.m. on Friday at the Highland Park Ebell Club at 131 South Ave 57. Caitlin Lainoff and DanRae Wilson are among the performers and are scheduled to perform their toy theater show about how Los Angeles first developed. The event is free.

The Silver Lake Farmers Market offers local, fresh produce, flowers and gifts from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday at 3700 Sunset Blvd. between Edgecliff & Maltman Avenues.
