Black Hogg Returns With Beer, Tweaked Menu

Owner Jonathan Kim's SIlver Lake restaurant reopens next week. Are you ready?

Over the past couple of years, our side of Sunset Boulevard has been attracting beer lovers from all over Southern California. In fact, our unique joints carrying rare craft beers and high-end microbrews have helped push our City of Angels into the top of the heap in Beer America.

Add a new local spot to link up with when you’re crawling for brews or showing off the hood to your pals: Black Hogg over on Sunset and Parkman will be reopening next week after a two month renovation to bring in some taps and wine racks.

Unlike Echo Park's El Prado or Sunset Beer though, this is a more gastro-oriented spot on par with Mohawk Bend or The Park and the beers are here to enhance the menu.

Local foodies have already been raving about Chef Eric Park’s inventive hits like Popcorn Bacon and the Buttery Lamb Burger.

Echo Park-Silver Lake Patch is partial to the chicken liver spread, which mixes up old and new world flavors with some serrano chiles providing an accent.

Park, of course, attended Pilgrim High School in the Rampart district. So we're lucky to have him back in all kinds of ways.

We're looking forward to stopping by and saying "hi."

Glad Black Hogg is indeed back and I'll look forward to paying it my first visit. I got concerned when it closed down in August, primarily because its predecessor -- the short-lived David Cafe -- unceremoniously shuttered for "renovations," never to return.
