Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead were both interns at Ridley Scott’s commercial production company and as they sat at these tables in front of the receptionist, they began to talk about how they wanted to be a writer/director, and director/DP [director of photography], and over time they kept talking and started working on projects together, which started off small and got bigger and bigger. One day they both woke up and they were co-directors.
The film is "Resolution" co-directed by Benson and Aaron Moorhead and after a whirlwind NINE months playing film festivals around the world, the film is playing now through Thurs. January 31st at the new Arena Cinema in East Hollywood.
Benson and Moorhead are local filmmakers who struck gold. A film submission like any other that was recognized and premiered at Tribeca Film Festival last year and subsequently acquired by Tribeca, which is distributing the film.
The filmmakers are at every screening at Arena Cinema this week and welcome Patch readers to attend and share a drink with after the film to talk and connect.
Their story is incredibly inspiring and it's great to see L.A. filmmakers do good and succeed and return home to celebrate the film up on the big screen.
Resolution screens at 7:30 and 9:20 every night through Jan. 31 at Arena Cinema, 1625 N. Las Palmas Ave. in Hollywood next to The Egyptian Theatre.
