I'm afraid I must agree with Diana Winters. My boyfriend and I and two friends went there on a Sunday evening. The place was busy, but not slammed. Every step of this experience was bad. The host told us it was a 20 minute wait. We waited almost an hour, but ok fine, it happens. But while we were waiting, I saw the new owner pull a place setting from a 4 top to make it a 3 top. He seated a couple there and then sat down for another 40 minutes and ate and drank with them. Then our waiter was really busy so it took a while to get our orders. He also told us about the drink on special, something the bartender never told us about even after we asked if there were any specials on cocktails. While the manager/owner sat with his friends having fun, the staff were running around like crazy. Our food took another hour and my boyfriend got upset because he had an appointment. We had been there for 2 hours and still no food. When it finally came out, it was cold! The manager had the gall to say he just got it from the chef. My bf was so mad and hungry. We asked for our food to go and left. The old Vitellos is gone. The new one is trying to be hip and cool with new entrees most are not even Italian and way overpriced. The owner really screwed this up. The appeal of this place was the old school feel. It's out of place in that area now. Huge mistake to change it, huge mistake.

I'm not sure what Vitello's you are talking about, but i love the new look of the place and the menu is much better than the pedestrian pasta of before. I went there first wiht my daughter-in-law and we were treated wonderfully by a young waitresss, and I'm certainly not a hipster. I've been back trhee times since and the young gent who's the maitre D was charming and the chef came out to tlak to us. The food is good and inexpensive. I've been going there nearly half a century and before it always felt like a gangster place, even before the Blake shooting. Maybe you should give it another try.
