TIME’s latest print issue has set media of all kinds on fire this Friday, with everything from talk shows to social media taking up the topic.

The cover  features 26-year-old Jamie Lynn Grumet breastfeeding her three-year-old son as a way into TIME ‘s feature on “attachment parenting.”

The TIME photographer in fact shot four mothers from around the country , and this image was selected.

Pundits are already deconstructing the media blaze, including Rene Lynch in the Los Angeles Times.

The author argues that the firestorm shows that "print" is vital—that it too can fuel a viral controversy.  In fact, says Lynch, the image probably would have died had it arrived via Internet.

TIME is a national magazine, but many argue that it’s community, local standards that should govern our reactions these kinds of things.
