Last Minute Holiday Gift Idea: Silverlake Farms CSA--Healthy and Local

Silverlake Farms offers a locally sourced "share" of produce, fruits, rice and cheeses with convenient pick up for those who live or work in the area.

Silverlake Farms started in Silver Lake in 2004 growing flowers.

Today, it also grows microgreens, mushrooms, edible flowers and loofah sponges.

Through its Community Supported Agriculture Program (CSA), the farm also does a really good job of supporting other small farmers--and doing what it can to bring fresh, organic goods to local diets.

Right now, the farm is offering another chance to buy into its weekly or biweekly deliveries of fresh produce, cheeses and rice.

Produce vendors are locally sourced. Cheeses come from Drakes Farm and feature chevre, mozzarella, feta and glacier.

What better time that just before the holidays to treat yourself or a neighbor family to fresh foods?

Silverlake Farms' "Family Share" costs just $300 for a ten week program and $150 for a bi-weekly program. You can pick up to 12 items that you select yourself at a location in Silver Lake or Pasadena on Friday afternoon from 3-7 p.m.

Singles or other smaller eaters can enjoy the "Studio Share," which costs just $200 for eight items a week, $100 for a biweekly pick up.

It's a great holiday gift (and New Year's resolution starter) that you can organize simply by contacting Silverlake Farms at csa@silverlakefarms.com.
