'LA Popular' Signage Makes Way for New Ownership (Photos)
Eric Ramos and his wife are selling vintage doors, door knobs and other historic accoutrements at 2237 Sunset in Echo Park. The big letters from the historic sign will also live there for a while.
LA Popular, a discount furniture store, had a long life at 2237 Sunset Blvd., just west of Alvarado Street.
But it closed, and now "Eric's Architectural Salvage" is one of two businesses on the site.

Los Angeles native Eric Ramos is bringing his expertise in salvage to Echo Park.

His new projects bring locals a chance to browse for crystal doorknobs, 5-panel doors and other accoutrements essential to older homes to Echo Park, Silver Lake and Los Feliz.
Ramos and his wife already run Eric's Tile in Whittier.
And, Eric says they'll leverage some of the same relationships they have with demolition crews.
Says Eric, "We're eco-friendly and economical. We have the 'pea soup' that everyone needs and the high-end stuff too."
Eric says he wil keep the letters from the LA Popular sign in-house, maybe selling them at some point.

Eric's Architectural Salvage is located at 2237 Sunset Blvd in Echo Park.
Hours are Tuesdays through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
