Ensenada's New Starbucks

Your editor took a few days off to camp and kayak just south of Ensenada and snapped the accompanying photo. It showed up on LAObserved over the weekend.

The drive to Baja California's La Bufadora point from Los Angeles is about six hours.

We go there to camp and kayak and drink mulled tequila.

I've been making the trek on and off for a number of years. You have to pass through Ensenada proper to get there.

On this last pass I saw something new at the south edge of  town: a new mall with a Costco, a Baja Fresh and, most intriguingly, a Starbucks.

It was dark. I was late. But it was my last chance for wireless. So I stopped.

And what a scene: signage in Spanish, a new wood smell and lots students from the nearby University experiencing what, for some, was their first Starbucks ever.

I snapped a couple photos on my iPhone and posted one on my Facebook page. It ended up on LA Observed over the weekend.

It appears above, and it seems right to re-post it on Echo Park Patch.

Had we a Starbuck's near Los Angeles City College, who knows? It might well look the same.
