Peter Shire's EP Pottery Sale Starts Friday

Buy locally designed and produced pottery, support school kids, help rescue pets. All this and Santa too!

Keeping It Local
With Black Friday and Cyber Monday written into the annals of consumer history, maybe it's time to turn a new chapter and shop locally. Echo Park Pottery is holding their annual sale Friday, Dec. 2 - Sunday, Dec. 4 at Peter Shire's Echo X Park Artist Studio located at 1850 Echo Park Avenue.

It's an annual event that dates back to 1972 when Peter Shire began selling pottery on Echo Park Blvd. The sale stopped for about 4 years, around the time that Shire collaborated with the Italian design and architecture group the Memphis Group.

Work goes on throughout the year at Echo Park Pottery. What makes the sale special is that it's the only time to buy the pottery.

While Shire directs the designs, he looks to Echo Park Pottery employees for their own creative vision. This year significant design contributions came from Echo Park residents Rayna Aguilar, Carlos Aguilar and Benigno Barron.

Santa In The House

The Echo Park Animal Alliance (EPAA)is using the occasion of the pottery sale to hold their 10th annual fundraiser. The EPAA is a non-profit volunteer organization co-founded by current director Christine Peters and former director Marsha Perloff.

What started as a concern about abandoned pets in the neighborhood, has grown into a force of up to 20 volunteers who foster abandoned dogs and cats. EPAA also assists and informs the community on spay and neutering their pets.

Once again local musician Ken Frizelle returns as Santa. A $10 donation gets you a glossy portrait in a festive card printed on-site with your pet and the man in the red suit.

Stockings stuffed with goodies to please the pooch with dog treats baked by Delilah Bakery and Masa Bakery and Cafe are also $10.

Donations are tax deductible and all proceeds go to EPAA's fund to assist local animals in need. http://echoparkanimalalliance.org/index.html

Musician Soothes the Soul

Last but not least is Zyanya Aromatics returns for their 12th year at the sale. Produced by Echo Park resident Robert Berryman, Zyanya Aromatics offers therapeutic grade essential oils and hand-crafted bodycare products for men, women and children.
